Field Tested

To date AQM Pellets and Liquid have been in use for over three years at hundreds of facilities around the world. During this period, both products have been tested by some of the most reputable golf course superintendents in the country.

Here at Victoria National, moisture management is a priority of ours. With such issues as localized dry spot, poor rooting and moisture retention, achieving ideal soil moisture content is a real challenge. After a few seasons using the AQM pellet, I feel that it has proven to be extremely beneficial to our turf stands. During our morning moisture preparation we are able to get moisture readings from numerous areas of a green and can then target the drier areas using a pellet which results in the elimination of LDS as well as provides a uniform feel to the greens from a playability standpoint. Another important use of the AQM pellet for us is on newly applied sod. The pellets seem to really enhance the root growth of newly established turf allowing it to anchor itself to the soil in a more timely fashion. So far the AQM pellets have been worth every penny and we will continue to use them in our efforts to provide the highest quality turf to our members.

AQM works!

… with AQM there have been remarkable differences. You can see the results. You give them [superintendent] a pellet to try it, and where they’ve tried it, and where they finished the pellet out it just half-moons from the water pattern, the treated side is dark green, nice, lush, knitted in. You walk to the part that hasn’t been treated, you can see it’s seams and everything else.

Gary Dempsey
Golf Course Superintendent
New South Wales Golf Club

Gary Dempsey, a highly respected golf course superintendent at New South Wales Golf Club was one of the first superintendents to trial AQM outside of the United States.

Gary’s comments are very direct – AQM is a highly beneficial treatment for turf. The ingredients in AQM will develop longer, stronger root systems. This enhanced root system will enable the turf plant uptake more nutrients. Turf grass treated with AQM will be healthier, more heat and drought resistant –guaranteed!

It is now almost one year since I began using AQM here at New South Wales Golf Club and to say we are happy with AQM is an understatement.

Last summer, in Sydney, was the hottest and most humid or record, and many Superintendents suffered turf loss on greens. Our greens were in fine condition through the summer and were the subject of many favorable comments.

I attribute this to the deep root system that AQM has helped us develop over the past year. On reflection I do believe I did have an advantage over other Superintendents, I had AQM. My assistants now do not leave the maintenance facility to hand-water without an Aqua-Aid PROportioner and AQM pellets.

Field Supervisor

STMA 2004 Sports Field Complex of the Year

“We have used AQM for the past three years now, and have found the product very helpful. Colorado has been in a drought for about seven years, so conserving water is a high priority. Our fields are at an altitude 8500 feet, native soil, semi arid, with high UV intensity. In July and August temperatures can be in the 90’s. When areas on the fields start to show stress or may have poor water absorption, we will spot treat with AQM. We have found AQM helps penetrate compacted soil and helps retain moisture for the plants.”

Simon Jacob
Project Manager from GreenTech, 2004 Olympics

“AQM was used at the construction site during the grow in of the washed 416 Bermuda Turf. It was a hostile environment with high temperatures and severe winds. AQM was used through the hand applicator guns at night. The whole field was covered a number of times which brought the field round during the grow in. We only had 8 weeks to grow the field in before we had to move it, in which time we had 35cm of root depth and a great turf sward.”

“Like many golf courses, we are always looking to make improvements to the way we approach our greens maintenance and quality.

Over the years we have tried a number of soil surfactants on a variety of differently constructed greens across our 72-hole complex and although it has been possible to see some differences and developments, none have been outstanding and you wouldn’t change product for change’s sake.

So we were amazed when we did trials with AQM last year and the results were quite frankly, staggering. The immediate visual impact showed the increased health of the turf within days.

We have a high turn around of short stay guests so we have to constantly present our courses for ‘first impressions’; AQM has since become an integral part of our greens programme helping us to achieve this!”
